Shopping For Better Deals

When I found out that I was pregnant with twins I was really overwhelmed. Since my husband and I already had three children, I was really nervous about how to pay for all of the household supplies and food that we would need to raise such a large family. However, after carefully considering our options, we decided that we could learn how to be smarter consumers, which might save a little money. We started shopping around for better deals, and we were able to learn how to cut our spending by almost half. This blog is dedicated to helping people to shop a little smarter and to avoid the pitfalls of overspending.

Making Quick Cash

Almost everyone finds themselves in a cash crunch at one time or another. If you end up with an unexpected bill from a plumbing leak or a trip to the emergency room and you don't have any savings, the financial stress can be overwhelming. Fortunately, you can earn some quick cash to help tide you over.

Old Clothes

If you have clothes smashed together in your closet and bags of old things are your floor, sort through them, pop them in the laundry, and take them to a consignment shop. Most of these places will only take clothing that is fashionable and without any rips, tears, or stains. Another option is to have a garage sale. You can get even faster cash this way, and you can also sell items that are not in perfect condition but still quite serviceable. All you need is a yard, garage, or even a porch to set up shop. Many local papers sell garage sale advertising space cheaply. If you don't want to invest in print ads, you can advertise on social media sites for free.

One other option is to use online garage sale sites. You can simply take a picture of the item you want to sell and post it with a price. If you make a sale, remember to meet the person at a neutral site for the exchange. You don't want to give strangers your address.

Jewelry

If you have any gold jewelry items without significant emotional value, then consider selling them at a pawn shop or at an online "cash for gold" site. Your quickest results will be from a local shop like Atlas Loan & Jewelry Co where you can either get a loan on the items or sell your gold outright. It's important to keep your expectations realistic. You will not get what your ring or watch is worth on the retail market or its appraisal value. However, it's possible to get enough money to help you through a crisis.

You can almost always make a little emergency cash if you look around your home and take the necessary steps to make a quick sale. The amount of cash you can make from selling used items varies, but it should be enough to help you in the short term. Plus, it's a chance to go through your things and de-clutter. You might discover treasures that were stored away and forgotten about.
