You can get even faster cash this way, and you can also sell items that are not in perfect condition but still quite serviceable. All you need is a yard, garage, or even a porch to set up shop. Many local papers sell garage sale advertising space cheaply. If you don't want to invest in print ads, you can advertise on social media sites for free. 

One other option is to use online garage sale sites. You can simply take a picture of the item you want to sell and post it with a price. If you make a sale, remember to meet the person at a neutral site for the exchange. You don't want to give strangers your address.

If you have any gold jewelry items without significant emotional value, then consider selling them at a pawn shop or at an online "cash for gold" site.
